The original backsplash had dated slate tiles, copper pot holder rod and the pot filler faucet was polished silver. In most remodel projects, we usually redo the tile backsplash with more modern tiles; however, the Quartz counters had a stunning design that we knew would make the kitchen pop and tie in the cherry cabinet colors as well as the slate tile floors.

It can be tempting to "over remodel ." Our approach is to save costs, especially if you plan on selling within the next five years. With this in mind, we chose not to redo all the kitchen cabinetry but instead picked out a Quartz counter to tie the kitchen together. Britannica Gold was a high-end quartz that cost more than others. However, it saved thousands of dollars compared to having to replace or repaint the cabinets. Color choices and overall planning were critical to ensure we didn't overspend on this project.
